Culture of sport in Germany
I have noticed many differences between France and Germany about the culture of sport and, indeed, the physical appearance. I have the impression that men are more challenged about their bodies, and advertising are everywhere to remind them it.
There is an important difference about the “sport place offers” between France and Germany. Here, they have the McFit concept. It’s a cheap fitness centre (19,90 € per month) where people can come as much as they want and at every hours and days. I have tried it and the quality was good! There were a lot of space, machines, and it was clean. It’s an offer which is extend in every city of Germany because there is a McFit fitness centre in every big and middle size city. I have realized that guys were a lot challenged for them body image when I have saw that they represented 90% of the people in the Mcfit fitness centre of Zwickau.
I also noticed a sort of “body challenge” by the social network accounts of some of my friends in the University. Many of them share their “body evolution”, especially by Instagram, and they are a bit addict to body-building. When I speak about “addiction”, it means 2 hours of body-building exercises per day.
The University purpose many sports courses like: ladyfit, Yoga, body attack, Pilate… And also, to join sports team: basketball, badminton, football… I thought that it would be a great way to meet new people so I decided to join the basketball team and participated in Yoga and ladyfit. The courses are taught by “students trainers”.
